Introducing the fastest, most energy-efficient Xserve ever.
Apple’s store was down for a brief period today and as many guessed it was to update the Xserve pages. Apple has introduced the new Xserve boasting a doubling of performance over the previous model.
As well as the CPU, Apple says that it design is greener with lower power requirements and many toxins eliminated.
The Quad-Core Intel Xeon “Nehalem” processor has a single-die, 64-bit architecture which makes 8MB of fully shared L3 cache readily available to each of the four processor cores. The claimed result is fast access to cache data, reduced traffic between processors and greater application performance. Combined with the other technological advances and Apple claims you get up to 2x faster than the previous generation.
