Apple does it again with the new iPad!

Apple announces the iPad tablet device
Apple has finally revealed its answer to the Tablet PC and the Netbook …. in its iPad. Was it worth the wait? Well, the jury is still out for many but from what I have seen online so far my first impressions are positive. Here’s what my initial thoughts are:

  1. I like the way you can do almost everything you can with a laptop, only easier.
  2. I like the fact that its compact but has lots of attractive features.
  3. I like the fact that its better than any eBook reader device (in looks and features).
  4. I like the price (no UK price yet but the entry level of $499 bodes well as thats around £310).
  5. I like the fact that it will interface so well with your existing Macs and iPhone etc.

Here some other thoughts too…. when I read a book as I relax in my chair, in bed or in a car, I sometimes find it difficult to read because or because the print is difficult to read (my eyes aren’t what they used to be). Also, keeping the page open can be a pain sometimes as the binding can make it want to close and you find you need both hands just to keep it in check.

With iPad though Apple seems to have overcome these problems… its backlit LED screen makes the text and images nice and bright. There is no problem keeping the pages open. You can zoom in on the page (try doing that with a book!). The more I think about it the more I can see the iPad becoming a revolutionary product that will have more impact than either the iPod or the iPhone… I really believe that. I reckon that more folk read (or will do because of the iPad) than listen to music or the move or use a smartphone. Think of all the millions of books and magazines published every year and you can see why publishers are just itching to get on board.

So, for those of you too lazy to visit the Apple site (or perhaps I should say, more interested in reading my blog! LOL):
